As you will read below, our pubs are on the decline! Dozens of British
pubs are closing every month and going by recent results the decline
will continue for the foreseeable future!
There are many reasons for the decline including consumers changing
However, the biggest reason for so many pubs closing is GREED!
Successive governments have taxed the licensed trade to death,
considering pubs and pub goers an easy target (Like motorists!).
Then we have profiteering from the brewers and pub landlords making it
harder for pub owners and tenants to make a living.
Of course the smoking ban has also gone a long way to help the decline.
The government should have allowed pubs to have separate areas for
smokers and non-smokers.

"Bob gets behind our locals by supporting the Proud of Pubs' campaign."
"Pubs are good!" is the message MP Bob Russell wants to extend.
As the publican magazine starts its 'Proud of Pubs' campaign, Bob looks
at what we can do to support our locals. As a traditional place for
socialising and building community spirit, it is important to protect
this aspect of our culture.
With pubs facing increasing pressure from the current economic climate,
we risk losing them altogether unless we actively show our support. So
why not do your part and pop down for a quick pint?
